Vision and Values

Our School Vision

Built upon courage, compassion and respect, excellence in learning and ambition in teaching, our school lights the way to a world of possibilities.

With relationships at our core, we nurture every individual. Each unique contribution is valued.

All flourish, making a difference as global citizens and as a beacon in our local community.

Created in collaboration with our school community in 2023, our vision reflects who we are and what we strive to achieve together.

We believe passionately that learning opens doors and lights the path toward fulfilling our dreams—both for today and for the future.

As a Church of England school, our vision is grounded in our Christian foundation. We believe that through excellent teaching and learning, every member of our community can flourish in a nurturing, inclusive environment.

Our school, built in 2021 and nestled on a hill at the heart of our community, aspires to be a beacon—a light that brings people together and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Guided by our core values of courage, compassion, and respect, we live out this vision every day.

Learning, to light the way

At the heart of our school vision is the verse:

“A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14–16

This verse inspires everything we do at our school. Just as a city on a hill is visible to all, we aim to be a beacon of hope, kindness, and unity within our community. Our school, built on a hill and surrounded by the people we serve, is a symbol of that light—shining brightly through our actions, our learning, and our values.

We believe that every child and adult in our school has a light within them—gifts, talents, and kindness that are meant to be shared. We encourage our pupils to let their light shine through courage, compassion, and respect, so that their good deeds can inspire others and make a real difference in the world around them.

We believe that learning is the key that opens the door to a life lived in all its fullness. It lights the way for our children to discover their potential, pursue their dreams, and make a positive impact on the world around them.

In our classrooms, our playground, and beyond, we strive to be a light that brings people together and helps everyone flourish.

Our School Values

Courage, Compassion and Respect

These have been voted upon by the whole school community, including children, parents, staff and governors. We are pleased that the ones chosen reflect so much of who we are as a school. Although these values may be supported and shared by Christians and non-Christians alike, theological backgrounds and biblical references help to explore what is distinctively Christian about each value.

Each half term we will focus on one of these values as part of our learning. Children work towards values awards in recognition of living out our vision in their lives.

What is Courage in our school?

Courage is doing right, no matter what the consequences may be.

With God's help we try to find the courage to overcome the obstacles and challenges we face. We are happy to learn from our mistakes and never give up.

Courage is the opposite of fear.

In the book of Joshua, God tells his people to:

‘Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened, for the Lord God is with you wherever you go.’

What is Compassion in our school?

Compassion is caring about someone else's feelings, something else like the environment and animals. It is trying your best to understand how others might be feeling, and about situations you see and then offering to help.

Compassion is much stronger than sympathy; if you have compassion you step into someone’s shoes, share their experiences and sufferings and want to support them or act on their behalf. It is not just feeling sorry for someone but actually doing something about making their life or situation better.

Compassion requires an act of imagination and humility to share in the lives of others. In the Bible Paul writes:

‘Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.'

What is Respect in our school?

Respect can mean simply treating each other with politeness and courtesy, and recognising that everyone’s contribution is important and that everyone’s feelings should be considered.

Respecting someone does not mean that we always agree with the other person but that we are prepared to listen and share our views without rudeness or impatience.

Respect extends to respect for all creation, including all people, animals and our environment. In school children and adults are expected to show respect for each other, their belongings and their environment.

In the Bible in Matthew it says:

'In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you'

Our Core Expectations

Our core expectations set our clearly how we all behave in our school:

Be Kind, Be respectful, Be safe, Be ready
